Bezel Privacy Policy

Bezel is designed and operated by NiuByte Studio ("we", "us", or "NiuByte").

We deeply respect your privacy. Bezel was engineered from the ground up around a foundational principle: Local-First Architecture and Data Minimization.

This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled (and not handled) when you download, install, and use Bezel on macOS, iOS, or iPadOS.

1. All Media Processing Remains Strictly On-Device

When you composite captures in Bezel, all of the following data stays entirely within your local device:

• Still screenshots imported via Files or drag-and-drop (PNG, JPEG, HEIF, etc.);
• Imported screen recordings or video footage (MOV, MP4, etc.);
• Your chosen device models, CMF finishes, orientations, layout modes (Exact / Fit / Fill), and shadow parameters;
• Final exported full-resolution framed images or videos.

We operate no remote image processing servers, and your screenshots or design materials are never transmitted to external cloud backends.

2. System Photo Library (PhotoKit) Permissions

To deliver an intuitive save flow, Bezel requests system permissions on-demand:

• "Add Photos Only" Permission: Requested when you choose "Save to Photos". This allows Bezel to write finished composites directly into your Photos album. Bezel has zero access to read your existing photos or videos under this permission.

You can revoke or modify these permissions at any time via iOS/iPadOS "Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos" or macOS "System Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos". If denied, you can always export directly to Files without friction.

3. Information We Never Collect

NiuByte strictly does not collect, record, process, or sell:

• Any visual or textual content depicted within your captures or videos;
• Facial geometry, EXIF geolocation coordinates, or personal metadata;
• Your Photos album structure, photo names, or personal library inventory;
• Device hardware tracking identifiers (IDFA, advertising IDs, IMEI);
• Behavioral tracking or user profiles across third-party apps or websites.

4. Payments, Subscriptions, and In-App Purchases

All purchase transactions for Bezel Pro (Lifetime license and Yearly subscriptions) are handled directly by Apple App Store:

• Your credit cards, billing addresses, and payment methods are securely processed by Apple. NiuByte never sees or stores your financial details;
• Bezel validates encrypted cryptographic receipts (StoreKit JWS) locally to unlock Pro features;
• All transactions are governed by Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

5. Anonymous Crash Diagnostics

If you have opted in to share diagnostics with app developers in your Apple device settings, Apple may provide anonymized crash reports and performance metrics.

These reports contain purely technical stack traces, OS versions, and hardware architecture data used exclusively to patch bugs, with no link to individual identities or user imagery.

6. Zero Sale of Personal Data

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal data or content to data brokers, advertising networks, or third-party marketing companies under any circumstances.

7. Data Retention and Erasure

Because Bezel stores data exclusively on your device, NiuByte has no cloud servers holding your historical assets.

• Temporary editing session caches are automatically cleared upon closing the editor or cancelling exports;
• Deleting the Bezel application immediately purges all application sandbox files from your local storage.

8. Children's Privacy

Bezel is intended for general audiences aged 13 and older (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us immediately.

9. Your Legal Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may hold rights under applicable privacy legislation (such as GDPR in Europe or CCPA in California) to access, rectify, or erase personal data. Since Bezel holds no cloud data, you can exercise these rights directly by managing your device files and Photo permissions.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new feature developments or legal compliance. Substantive modifications will be posted here with an updated "Effective Date".
